Director of Assisted Living:
The Director of Assisted Living is primarily responsible for: 1) Providing technical assistance, resource development and education to members on the range of operational issues relating to assisted living services; 2) serve the Association as a policy expert on matters pertaining to licensed assisted living and 3) Representing member interests with State agencies, consumers, and other stakeholders.
What you’ll do as the Director of Assisted Living:
- Technical Assistance and Support: In collaboration with internal teams, deliver timely, thorough support on assisted living issues.
- Education and Resource Development: Develop and oversee resources, curricula, and educational materials tailored to member needs and industry trends.
- Policy Expertise: Provide technical expertise and thought leadership on regulations and laws related to assisted living licensure;
- Committee and Stakeholder Engagement: Facilitate working committees and professional networks, and represent the Association with external stakeholders, regulatory bodies, and elected officials.
- Communication and Data Analysis: Share timely information via newsletters, webinars, and other channels while analyzing and reporting relevant data and market trends.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide accurate, timely and thorough technical assistance to members concerning assisted living and related payment sources. Desired: Have a working knowledge to provide direction and support to members regarding adult day, home care and other community-based services.
- Develop products, education programs, and resources for members in response to or in anticipation of their needs; update existing resources as needed.
- Participate in the public affairs process by identifying potential issues for the Association’s annual legislative agenda; drafting relevant bill language or amendments; and recommending positions on public policies related to assisted living and relevant community-based services.
- Facilitate relevant committees, professional networks, and workgroups.
- Oversee development of resources, curriculum and education to reflect member needs or emerging trends.
- Provide timely information through a variety of communication channels including newsletters, social media, website content, webinars and more.
- Represent the Association in meetings with external stakeholders, regulatory bodies, and elected officials.
- Assist in gathering, analyzing, and communicating relevant data and market trends.
- Conduct member visits/contacts and engage in member recruitment activities.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Position has no supervisory responsibilities.
COMPUTER SKILLS
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office software

- The noise level in the environment is moderate.
- Some travel is required, primarily within Minnesota, but some out of state as well.
- LeadingAge Minnesota operates in a hybrid work environment which requires in-office attendance three days per week.

The vision requirements include close and distant vision.
Salary range: $110,000-120,000

Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals to ensure they are successful in executing the essential functions of this role.
- Lived provider experience in Minnesota-licensed assisted living is required; must demonstrate mastery of assisted living licensure laws and regulations.
- Knowledge of state and federal housing regulations and landlord/tenant laws is highly desired.
- Possess strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills; ability to exercise sound professional judgment.
- Exhibit mastery of public speaking and strong writing skills.
- ALD license is required.
Education and/or Experience
- At least 7 years direct experience working in licensed assisted living; additional experience in housing with services model is desired.
- Post-secondary education in public policy, social work, or equivalent work experience in a related field.
