About this role

Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital (JDCH) is recruiting for a board eligible/ board certified pediatric/congenital interventional cardiologist. The candidate should have completed a pediatric/congenital interventional cardiology fellowship and have demonstrated experience managing pediatric and adult patients with congenital heart disease, including premature infants. Responsibilities for the candidate will include primarily congenital cardiac catheterization, outpatient congenital cardiac clinic, occasional inpatient congenital cardiac service, shared call, resident/fellow teaching, administrative, and scholarly activities. The candidate will join the three current congenital interventional cardiologists and will have ample professional opportunities as part of the team.

JDCH has recently doubled in size with a major remodel which was completed in 2023. The newly constructed 6th floor is dedicated to congenital heart disease containing a state of the art 20-bed cardiovascular intensive care unit, dedicated cardiac PACU, and four surgical/interventional suites. Cardiac catheterizations are primarily performed in either one of the two biplane Phillips labs or single-plane Phillips labs, all with hybrid capabilities. The program performs on average 500 catheterization cases annually with two thirds of the cases being interventional. All types of interventional procedures are performed by the team including transcatheter valve implantation, PDA stent implantation, ASD closure, and premature PDA occlusion within the NICU. The team regularly performs cardiac catheterization procedures on our Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD) patients in a newly renovated Cannon biplane lab within the adjacent Memorial Regional Hospital. The interventional team is involved in many multicenter studies including those involving multiple registries and investigational devices. The interventional team works with the FDA and Industry both on device development and obtaining regulatory approval of devices.

The JDCH Heart Institute provides all aspects of congenital heart care from the fetus to adult, including congenital heart surgery, interventional cardiology, electrophysiology and advanced imaging. The team also provides advanced heart failure treatment including medical therapies, acute/chronic mechanical circulatory support, and is the leading pediatric heart transplant program in South Florida. Our surgical program is considered a medium volume program by STS and consistently reports exceptional results in highly complex patients.

The current faculty includes three interventional cardiologists, three transplant cardiologists, four imaging cardiologists, two electrophysiologists, four inpatient cardiologists, 17 dedicated outpatient cardiologists, and three congenital cardiac surgeons. The ACHD program is an integral part of the JDCH Heart Institute and Memorial Cardio-and Vascular Institute.

The ACHD program is an accredited program directed by ACHD specialists with support by all other medical and surgical members of the congenital cardiac team in addition to adult subspecialists.

This is a full-time employed position with the multispecialty Memorial Physician Group. The position offers competitive benefits and a compensation package that is commensurate with training and experience. Professional malpractice and medical liability are covered under sovereign immunity. JDHeC_DS
