Position Description
Title: VP of Operations
Reports to: President/CEO
Department: Administration Effective Date: November 1, 2025
PURPOSE OF POSITION: To oversee the safety of the Senior Living Community (CCRC), oversee operations of Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Skilled Nursing services in conjunction with the CEO and senior leadership team.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Oversee Community Security & Emergency Operations
Oversee the Fire Safety systems throughout the community including alarm and sprinkler systems (IL, ALF, SNF). Keep all systems up-to-date and in full regulatory compliance
Oversee all Emergency Precautions including training systems with appropriate drills and manuals to meet the needs of the community and be in full regulatory compliance – including all manuals
Oversee the physical safety of the residents from theft, vandalism, or violence through proper staffing and training and the necessary physical deterrents such as fences, gates, access doors, etc.
Serve as Emergency Operations Coordinator; serve on Various Committees; serve as Chair of Water and Health & Safety Committees
Oversee the physical safety of the campus by identifying needs for improvement, recommending/proposing ways to improve and implementing the same.
Oversee the employment of overnight security and guards for the campus.
Oversee Operations of the Community
Work with the CEO to establish operational goals at all levels of care.
Work with Morrison Dining Services, Environmental Services, Maintenance and Grounds to oversee the needs and duties of these areas.
Work with CEO and CFO in establishing and monitoring operational and capital budgets for the IL, AL, and SNF departments of Atherton.
Work with SNF/RCFE Administrator to support personnel and programs of IL, ALF, and SNF residents.
Work with RCFE Administrator/SNF Administrator to ensure
compliance with regulatory requirements of the California Department of Social Services and Department of Public Health
Manage and Coordinate communication between Atherton and appropriate local and state regulatory agencies and service providers in conjunction with SNF/RCFE Administrator and CEO
Implement and oversee facility-wide quality assurance programs
Serve as member of the senior leadership team of Atherton and weekend duty coordinator.
Oversee and manage the operations of the Transportation Department and Vehicle Fleet
Oversee and manage the operations of the Front Desk/Receptionist function and first impressions of the organization
Oversee the Maintenance and Grounds Department
Oversee the Housekeeping Department
Coordinate and Manage renovation schedules and work with CEO
REQUIRED OTHER FUNCTIONS:
Represent the Organization at functions, conventions, and seminars as directed.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION REQUIRED or TO BE MASTERED:
Four-year college degree. A master’s degree in business management or a related field is a plus.
Possess (or obtain) a valid RCFE administrator's license.
Working knowledge of all related local, state and federal regulations.
Must be able to read and write the English language.
MENTAL DEMANDS:
Direct involvement with residents, family members, personnel, visitors, and government agencies under all circumstances and conditions.
Subject to hostile and emotionally upset people.
Subject to multiple tasks and regular interruptions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Works in a well-lighted, ventilated office area.
Sits and moves intermittently during working hours.
Must be able to walk the campus on a regular basis
Works beyond normal working hours when necessary.
MANAGEMENT OR SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervise departments including Morrison managers.
Manage with the senior leadership team in the absence of the President/CEO when directed. Manage Monday morning staff meetings in absence of the CEO.
BUDGETARY CONTROL:
Works with the CEO and CFO to oversee the Organization's operational budget including capital expenditures.
