The Department of Family Medicine, Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University is seeking a board-certified Family Medicine or Internal Medicine physician with additional qualifications in Geriatrics and Palliative Care for a fixed term or tenure track academic leadership position at the rank/title of Clinical Assistant Professor or higher (rank is commensurate with experience). The successful candidate will join a well-established medical practice comprised of leading divisions in residency education, medical student education, sports medicine, geriatrics, and research.

This position will serve as the Medical Director for Geriatrics and Palliative care and will work to create an integrated system of care for all geriatrics and palliative care services throughout ECU Health in service to the mission of improving the health and well-being of eastern North-Carolina. The Medical Director will work in a positive and collaborative manner with ECU Health Medical Center, other affiliated hospitals, the Brody School of Medicine, and the Department of Family Medicine leadership to foster growth and development of the division.

• Administer the division in a fiscally responsible manner and in step with University and ECU Health policy while consistently working with leadership to establish meaningful goals for individual and divisional performance, and recognizing opportunities for increases in productivity, cost savings, and revenue generation

The Medical Director will lead and supervise faculty in the Geriatrics and Palliative Care Division within the Department of Family Medicine, while also serving as a faculty physician to include: participating in the teaching, mentoring, advising, and supervision of residents, fellows, medical students, and other learners; providing medical care to patients in the Monk Geriatric Ambulatory clinic, ECU Health Medical Center, and one continuing care community with skilled care beds; and participating in various scholarly endeavors.

Requirements

MD or DO from an appropriately accredited institution

CAQ in Geriatrics

Board Certified in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine (American Board of Medical Specialties)

Collaborative (including interdepartmental) relationship building and maintenance skills

Refined analytical and critical thinking skills

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Qualifying degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions and conferred by the time of hire
