COMMERCIAL LITIGATION ATTORNEY
Cairncross & Hempelmann (“CH&”) is a full-service law firm in Seattle that advises our diverse client base in litigation, bankruptcy, business, land use, and real estate. We are currently seeking a Commercial Litigation Associate to join our dynamic litigation group. The ideal candidate will have 4 or more years of experience in general commercial litigation and meet the following basic requirements:
- Undergraduate and JD degrees from accredited academic institutions
- Current WSBA membership
- Working knowledge or demonstrated interest in commercial and real estate litigation; experience in insolvency or employment a plus.
- Excellent time and project management skills
- Ability to move matters forward strategically and thoughtfully
- Attention to detail
- Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills
- Interest and ability to learn, quickly
Requirements
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Ability to work with multiple partners and effectively manage responsibilities for different cases.
- Draft pleadings, motions, and briefs.
- Prepare discovery and respond to requests (admissions, disclosures, interrogatories, depositions, orders, etc.).
- Attend and manage hearings, mediations, settlement conferences, and court proceedings.
- Effectively communicate with clients and the managing attorney(s) to understand the client’s concerns and provide sound legal advice.
- Analyze, evaluate, synthesize, and research case law, statutes, regulations, and documents impacting the firm’s clients.
- Utilize strong written and critical thinking skills that lead to comprehensive and persuasive writing.
- Communicate clearly and logically (both verbally and in writing) with clients, courts, and counsel.
- Work with paralegals and staff to manage documents and ESI in complex litigation.
- Ability to handle complex problems utilizing initiative, creativity, and sound professional judgment. Ability to maintain attention to detail and produce high-quality work.
- Ability to thrive in a high-demand, fast-paced environment.
Secondary Functions:
- Attend Litigation Group and other meetings and firm events, as required.
- Participate in business development activities and initiatives.
- Initiate and respond to phone calls, emails, etc.
- Other duties as assigned.

Compensation range: $175,000 - $225,000 annually, depending on experience.
