The salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $42.51 – $63.77. The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc.

About the Role
As a Respiratory Therapist, you will provide expert cardiopulmonary care to patients across a variety of settings—from routine diagnostic procedures to complex critical care interventions. Working closely with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams, you'll help ensure patients receive safe, evidence-based respiratory care while contributing to outstanding clinical outcomes.
What you'll Do
- Provides respiratory care to include diagnostic testing, oxygen and medication delivery, bronchial hygiene, arterial/capillary blood gas draw and analysis, advanced airway, and life support.
- Patient assessment including the ability to monitor labs, hemodynamics, and radiology findings. Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates individual patient care appropriate to the age of the patients.
- Calibrates, cleans, sets up, maintains, and troubleshoots all patient related equipment and instruments. Assembles and stores cleaned equipment.
- Participates in in-house educational in-services inter and intradepartmental as well as attending outside seminars and workshops, as requested by Manager.
- Participates in various intermittent department tasks including, but not limited to, audits, quality assurance, statistical record keeping, patient charting and other special projects as specified by Manager.
- May act as a member of trauma, cardiopulmonary resuscitation and rapid response teams.
- Responsible for ventilator and Non-invasive Positive Pressure Ventilation (NPPV) management including ensuring safe, evidence-based setting with appropriate changes.
- May become trained as a core therapist in an ICU or diagnostics area (e.g., PFT or Sleep Lab) to meet department needs.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
What You'll Bring
- Accredited Program Required: Respiratory Care Program 2-year AMA-approved Respiratory Care Program or approved alternative education as outlined in the state regulatory requirements and
- Required: Must pass the NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist exam within 6 months of hire
- Minimum of 2 years Preferred: Experience in acute care as a Respiratory Therapist and
- Minimum of 1 year Preferred: Experience in a pulmonary function lab and
- Preferred: Experience in ICU, Pediatrics, or Obstetrics
- Required: within 6 months Registered Respiratory Therapist and
- PALS, ACLS and BLS are all required upon hire.
- NRP certifications must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
- ACLS required for staff conducting stress tests.
Skills
- Proficient with MS Office applications. (Required)
- Must be able to set up, operate, and troubleshoot all respiratory or pulmonary function related equipment, as applicable, in a quick and efficient manner. (Required)
- Must be able to quickly assess acute, critical care situations and respond with a decisive and appropriate course of action. (Required)
- Good time management skills. (Required)
Working Conditions
Lifting
- Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH).
- Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment and perform precise procedures.
- Ability to move around area with occasional sitting.
- Lifting (non-patient)/carrying occasionally up to 25 lbs.
- Push/Pull: 1-25 lbs. of force occasionally (i.e., moving equipment).
- Stooping/ bending/ squatting/ kneeling occasionally.
Environmental Conditions
- Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.
- Time spent on site in medical/hospital setting or in office environment.
Mental/Visual
- Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).
- Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
